Biography
Dedicated Helping Professional
Ms. Young has more than 25 years of experience treating health disparities, developmental and intellectual disabilities, substance misuse, re-entry issues, child abuse/neglect, and psychiatric disability. The focus on "dis-ease" and "dis-ability" that dominates helping professions gave birth to the idea of empowering youth. Young women engaged in the ongoing process of becoming their best warrior queens, or Kandaces, is the origin of the Kandace Academy. An ongoing system of Eldership in 5 areas the form pillars, the foundation, to optimal wellness.
As the need to continue support of growth, expansion and self-mastery, UrbanShaywoman was born. UrbanShaywomanism is a lifestyle of healing and wellness that draws upon one's own personal experience, family legacy, spiritual traditions, and life purpose.
As a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) Ms. Young determines, coordinates, and manages services related to the rehabilitation process. Her most recent work in psychiatric rehabilitation is the bridge between the individual and a self-sufficient, fully integrated life.
Ms. Young is a believer in holistic health and is trained as a Reiki Master and Auricular Acupuncturist. In her downtime, she enjoys anything involving the beach, dancing, reading, cultural history, and most recently sailing. Connection to water and wind, is connection to Spirit.

Her goal is to create a supportive and non-intrusive environment where clients can heal, freely explore their emotions, find solutions, and grow.
